WHO concerned about low COVID-19 vaccination rates, winter infections increase

the World Health Organization (WHO)'s chief COVID-19 technical officer said only about half, or 55 percent, of the world's elderly population had received a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. As the northern hemisphere winter continues to see increased hospitalizations for respiratory illnesses in many countries, including the US, European countries and several other continents, lower vaccination rates are putting additional strain on healthcare systems.
